MY NAME IS LIZ AND I LOVE TO WRITE.

I HAVE BEEN A PROLIFIC WRITER SINCE I WAS A KID.
I LOVE TO WRITE IN MY OWN VOICE, OTHER PEOPLE'S VOICES, YOU NAME IT.

EDUCATION

I have my BA from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where I triple majored in English Literature, Creative Writing and French Literature, with a minor in Film Studies.  During my college years, I held 3 jobs: camp counselor at North Shore Country Day School, clothing store sales at O'Farrell's Outfitters, and intern at advertising firm Johns Iltis Associates.  During my career in the fashion industry I took classes at Parsons School of Design and Toastmasters.  In San Francisco, I participated in the live audience of Creative Live and continue to take online classes there. Ongoing education is what keeps your brain working!

CAREER

The first 20 years of my career were in fashion merchandising and textile development for companies such as Ruff Hewn and TravelSmith, and American Pacific, a private label bedding and bath company.   I worked and lived in New York City, New Jersey, North Carolina, and the San Francisco Bay Area. It was a great industry to be a part of and I was able to travel extensively to Asia, Europe and around the United States. Most importantly, I learned about the importance of building a strong brand, how to foster business-to-business as well as internal relationships, and how to effectively manage projects for an on-time and profitable outcome. I also honed my presentation skills and love to share my knowledge with my community through guest speaker engagements.

WHERE I AM NOW

After 10 years on the East Coast and 17 years in San Francisco, I now live in a 1920's bungalow in Portland, Oregon, with my husband of 28 years, our 5 dogs and 2 cats.  Our neighborhood is Cathedral Park, under the iconic St. Johns Bridge, and adjacent to the historic St. Johns neighborhood and business district.  The business district tag line is "Small Town in a Big City" and it's very true!  I appreciate the close-knit feeling of the neighborhood and the commitment of the community members to keeping this area a special place to live for generations to come.
